Social Media Marketing: Which Social Media Platform is best for my business?

Social Media has been, arguably, one of the biggest revolutions of the current generation.  Businesses are quickly realising the potential publicity and visitors which they could gain if they fully utilised social media channels.   Social Media Marketing is fast becoming on of the most popular kinds of online marketing.
However some businesses fall head-first into social media and feature on every site.  Some businesses are so eager to cash in on this newly emerging market that they are spreading themselves too thinly and are finding that they don’t have the time or the resources to cover each of their social media channels properly.
At the other end of the business spectrum there are the businesses who have ignored the social media revolution, popped their heads in the sand and have hoped this social media thing would just blow over.  Those businesses have may have finally come to the realization that their competitors have been exploiting these channels and they are in danger of being left very far behind.
No matter which kind of business owner you are it is important to recognize that you don’t have an infinite amount of time or number of resources which you can dedicate to social media.  You need to take an objective look at which social media channels generate the best kind of platform for your kind of customers.  You need to make an informed decision and decide which platforms will work for you and  your business and stick to them.
So us here at Web Adept have decided to launch on a social media series which will take each of the major platforms and will outline the pro#s and con’s of interacting on each platforms and so allow you to make an informed decision on which social media platform your business should bother with.  Over the next few weeks we will be outlining :-

  • Twitter – the up-to-the-moment micro-blogging site
  • Facebook – the social media giant
  • Google+ – the Google endorsed platform
  • Pinterest – with the highest female population
  • LinkedIn – the professional platform
  • Instagram – the image-sharing trend spot

If you follow the course of these blogs you will find out which platforms work for which businesses, who uses each social media platform, and how to get the most out of each social media service.
But remember, these are only suggestions.  The business models which I suggest are not the only sectors which will work on these social platforms and visa-versa.  There will always be exceptions to the rules (or suggestions in this case!) but these are a great place to start.
