Founded by foraging fanatics John and Julia, the Really Wild Emporium builds on their passion for native plants and the many health benefits they offer. As well as creating their own natural soap and skincare range, they also have a popular café serving delicious cakes and meals, Airbnb rooms and wild foraging workshops on the Pembrokeshire coast.
We first worked with the Really Wild team after their soap business had taken off and the popularity of their products meant they needed to update their online presence in line with the company’s growth. After expanding the business to create the Really Wild Emporium here in in St Davids, they came to us to create a separate site.
Although this worked well for them for a time, they returned with a new brief to merge the two websites into an all-singing ecommerce site that housed every element of the business in one place.
As there are so many sides to the business, there was quite a bit of work involved to make sure we captured all the key functional elements that would make website user experience a breeze. We gave them an online shop for the soap side as well as the ability to sell tickets in the foraging area of the site. Their users want to be able to action things quickly, so the Restaurant section has the menus available and links to book a table, and the Stay area has direct links to their Airbnb.
With such a diverse set of products and services, we also worked closely with the Really Wild team to develop brand guidelines, including different colour schemes and logos for each area of the site. Although there’s an overarching brand tying everything together, we didn’t want the individual branches of their business to become diluted. So, the branding work was key to giving each area its own distinct identity whilst keeping everything cohesive.
When it comes to selling products and experiences like those available from the Really Wild Emporium, fantastic images are an absolute must to show the customer exactly what they can expect. Fortunately, these guys take some amazing photos in-house which really makes the website stand out and gives it a uniquely personal touch. Often, we have to source library pictures and make it work, but these absolute stars shot and sent photos specifically to match the vision we had for different sections of the website, which was a dream for us.
As we were bringing two sites under one, we had to think about SEO. Although it made more sense to host the website on the Emporium domain name (as this is the name of their building in St Davids), the soap site had been live for longer, meaning the soap domain had more authority.
To avoid any negative impact on the SEO, we worked our tech magic in the background, including making sure all the redirects were in place, keyword research, keyword mapping, URL, image and meta description optimisation, and the addition of internal links throughout the website.
Working with Web Adept has been easy and comfortable. They understood what we wanted very quickly. Their approach is market focussed with a knowledge of what our clientele are looking for. With their swift responses to our changing requirements and focus on our timescales, everything is possible.
