Bringing an authentic taste of Japan to Cardiff, Tenkaichi is a sushi and noodle bar famed for its great atmosphere and excellent customer service. With the freshest sushi and sashimi from sustainable sources, as well as hearty noodle and rice dishes, it’s a top spot for a family get together, first date, or catch up with friends. Tenkaichi means “number one under heaven” in Japanese, and the restaurant goes the extra mile to live up to its name by ensuring the high quality and freshness of its fish and using authentic Japanese recipes and ingredients. A socially conscious business, their ethos is one of sustainability and being CO2 neutral, considering every step of their supply chain to reduce the environmental impact.
The Tenkaichi team asked us for a website that would help increase table bookings and takeaway orders, making the process as straightforward as possible for diners. They also wanted to give their SEO a big boost to make the restaurant easier to find in online searches.
The team wanted to spend more time doing the things they love, so they asked us to create a site that would take care of the things they don’t have much time for – like admin and responding to queries via their website.
We delivered a more modern and user-friendly website designed to increase sales and reduce time spent doing all the admin, freeing up staff to serve authentic Japanese dishes and keep the drinks flowing at the bar.
The new website has multiple third-party solutions to cater to customers’ needs. This includes a ‘Book Now’ function using Tablein, an ordering function for dining in and takeaways using Yoello, a drop-down FAQ section, a newsletter sign up feature via Mailchimp, and a Google map showing people how to find the restaurant.
We also gave them a news blog section to open up communication with customers and keep them in the loop. To help the Tenkaichi team manage their content going forward, we made sure they knew what was what by delivering bespoke end-user CMS training.
We had fun with the visual side on this one. Our design team added some images of the restaurant and happy customers to give the site some atmosphere, but the food was the main focus here. So, we went all-in on packing the site with top quality photos of Tenkaichi’s mouthwatering eat-in, takeaway and delivery menu options.
Being busy restaurant owners, our clients just couldn’t find the time to write the copy for the new website, so we provided them with professionally written content and included the meta information for good SEO.
To build trust and strong customer engagement, we peppered the pages with awards and testimonials and encouraged customers to leave reviews with a persuasive call to action, as well as adding social media icons to help encourage growth of their online following.
We’re really pleased with the new site. We spent some time with Web Adept and drew up a spec for them to follow, explaining what we needed to replace the old website. They followed that closely and delivered a new site that works well and has integrated third-party booking and menu apps, making things easier for our staff. It looks great and is on brand, and the process of developing it ran smoothly. A good experience!
