The coastal activity pioneers at TYF offer epic adventures in Pembrokeshire for everyone from beginners to experienced thrill seekers. Their focus is on improving wellbeing, building confidence and teaching people how to protect the environment through play and learning in the great outdoors. Activities include a wide range of watersports and coastal adventures, including cliff climbing, surfing, kayaking and coasteering, a sport which TYF introduced to the world in 1986. As well as pure adventure, the team also deliver educational activities for schools, instructor training courses and environmentally conscious corporate workshops.

the brief

A change in ownership of the business prompted the TYF team to ask us for a new website to replace the previous one, updating everything and marking a new era for the business. They particularly wanted to highlight the different strands of the company (adventures, education, training and corporate workshops) and give the copy a more modern and SEO friendly makeover.

It also had to have instant impact visually to give clients a taste of the spectacular scenery and convey the excitement of potential adventures. Functionally, the site also had to be very user-friendly with a simple and effective booking system.

the solution

Our design team did a great job in creating a really visual, intuitive, responsive and on-brand site that not only looks great but also has the technical functionality to give visitors a seamless online experience. We included bold CTA buttons and also made sure that the booking feature is prominent and links flawlessly to their booking platform. Our copywriting team also revamped the text to sharpen things up, give customers all the information they may need and keep the Google gods happy.

Luckily, the TYF team are pretty handy with a camera and gave us some really great quality images and videos to use on the site. These are a hugely important element in highlighting the incredible wild spaces here in West Wales and showing potential customers exactly what the activities and educational courses involve. They all come together to give the site a professional but fun feel, with an emphasis on the environmentally friendly ethos of the brand.

other challenges

With the recent takeover of the business, the owners were keen to get the new website up and running quickly which meant we had to work to a pretty tight schedule to get the copy sorted and launch everything on time.

Not that it was a problem for our team – we’re pretty agile so we know how to pull out all the stops to get the job done quickly without cutting corners.
