Providing energy security for homes and businesses throughout the UK, Dragon LNG & Dragon Energy enable the safe storage and flexible, reliable supply of liquefied natural gas at their terminal in West Wales. As a future-focussed company with an eye on energy sustainability, they have plans to become a Net Zero Terminal by 2029 and are committed to becoming a provider of renewable energy under the umbrella of Shell International Ltd & VTTI.

the brief

In light of the recent changes to their business, the savvy team at Dragon LNG realised they needed to upgrade their existing site design and make sure it served as the secure info hub they needed it to be. This was the third design we’d done for a client we’d worked with since 2012 and enhancing website security was a major priority here.

Just like anything else, a website needs to be updated regularly to keep it safe, relevant and responsive, so it was time for some TLC from our web team. However, we’re always primed to revamp, renew and bring a site bang up to date.

the solution

As per the brief, we leapt into modernising mode and gave the website a thorough redesign. With the primary focus on creating a user-friendly information resource, we put together a clearer structure and gave the layout a more contemporary look as well as adding a cleaner menu and crisper, more intuitive navigation.

Adding a great photos is a no-brainer when it comes to any website, so the new site became a lot more visual than the earlier one.

As well as a polished banner video on the home page, the client provided top notch images to add visual interest, including professional photos with an emphasis on diversity and inclusion. We’re very particular about the visuals – it all has to be optimised to the hilt to keep the site looking sharp and responding fast. So, our editing gurus gave the drone footage a sleek re-edit just to bring it up to the high spec needed.

other challenges

Most projects have a glitch here and there, but we’re more than capable of rolling with the punches here at Web Adept HQ. There was a bit of a timeline twist on this one, with a brand guideline change happening after the website design had been agreed on.

Fortunately, not much phases us, so after a quick regroup we were able to adapt the design to fit the Dragon team’s new spec.
